Health and Wellness Informatics News

Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) is working with healthcare technology specialist, Tegria. It is also working with digital health consultancy, Cloud21.

The HSCNI organizations will help to deliver Northern Ireland’s Encompass program via electronic health. The program is a decade-long initiative. The initiatives aim to implement a fully integrated electronic health and care record. This is to support its national digital transformation program.

The initiative wishes to cover acute physical, mental health, community care, and social services. Tegria and Cloud21 will provide strategic guidance. It will also provide program readiness and electronic patient record (EPR) implementation expertise. All of this is a part of the agreement.

Northern Ireland is also set to become the first UK country to integrate a fully integrated electronic health and care record across all care settings.

The Encompass program aims to deliver improvements. This is for patients to make it easier for health and care professionals. So that they can deliver high-quality and safe care, improved efficiencies, and greater collaboration.

This will replace a patchwork of legacy systems and paper-based processes. It will also set a complete picture of a patient’s health and social care.

HSCNI recently announced that it partnered with Swedish med-tech firm Sectra. This is to combine pathology and radiology images. It also aims to report in the same medical imaging system.

Also, GPs and other primary care prescribers across Northern Ireland got access to decision support technology. This got followed by an agreement with medicines optimization firm First Databank (FDB).

Dr. Tony Corkett, the CEO of Cloud21, also stated, “The HSCNI is leading the way in advocating that every technology program needs equal funding and support for people, processes, and change management to be successful, and a national transformation program of this scale is no exception.”

The chief digital information officer (CDIO) for HSCNI is Dan West. Dan said that Tegria and Cloud21 stood out because of their strong understanding of the challenges.

Dan added that Tegria and Cloud21 experienced the value of working with our EPR supplier. That was extremely valuable to bring into the mix. We also saw a well-coordinated and high-quality response. We wouldn’t have moved the program to where it is today without them.
